    James has managed the Technology Transfer Office in Waterford Institute of Technology for the past six years delivering some notable successes such as two KTI awards and the largest ever Irish spin out exit.  Prior to his this James worked as a managing consultant in the strategy and science centres of the blue chip organisations for Accenture and PA Consulting respectively.  James has also worked for a US semiconductor company as a technologist and for the European Patent Office as an advisor.  James graduated two decades ago with a Ph.D. from Trinity College Dublin and an MBA from the Open University.  James is  registered technology transfer professional.

     

    Presentation title – Engaging with Academic Institutions

    Brief synopsis of talk – A pragmatic discussion on the key aspects of industry engaging with academia from the initiation through to project management issues to negotiating contracts and licences.  The talk will focus on the nuts and bolts of an engagement.
